Penlee Lifeboats in Action

Lifeboat exercise; Tom Matson is pictured on the bow of Dave and Patch's yacht 'Galatea'  preparing a towing bridle. The towing bridle would then be connected to the lifeboats tow rope should a yacht require a tow. It is common practice to transfer a crewman to a casualty yacht if the yachts crew are incapacitated by possible injuries or seasickness.

This is the Penlee Lifeboat Stations inshore lifeboat the 'Paul Alexander.' It is pictured in its boat house on its trailer ready to launch at a moments notice!

Ollie and James on the stations smallest lifeboat the 'Y-Boat'. This inflatable is powered by a 15hp Mariner outboard and is stored on top of the Severn's wheel house, it is used in shallow water where the ALB and ILB cannot reach due to their respective draughts.
